************The first person who commented on my last entry said it best when stating that there is a double standard when it comes to weight. I was simply addressing this. Another comment was made that we(United States) were the obesity capital of the world. I was simply stating that we have accepted our obesity as a nation and that is wrong of us. Maybe this entry will help others understand where I'm coming from.*****************************
Due to the sudden influx of comments about my size, I have been forced to write this entry. I'm FED up!! You have FORCED me to back stroke in waters most simply choose to tread in.
It has been brought to may attention on NUMEROUS occasions that I am gaining weight. Why are you gaining weight you ask? It's not purposely. I have just have been busy with school so I don't work out like I used to, but I'm going to dance again in the fall so it's no big deal. I have accomplished other things that are more important and I am happy because of this. I've caught up with personal expenses and excessive credit card debt. The fact that I've been busy with more important things in my life is the reason for my "massive" weight gain. Notice massive is in quotations because it is only massive in certain eyes. Let's be real I ran track throughout high school and those work outs were no JOKE!! I know how to work out when I want to. I've been hearing "Are you gaining weight?" or "You're getting bigger" a lot lately. This does not bother me. What I CAN'T STAND is "You're TOO fat".
Let's take some time to really think about this. Too fat implies that I look like one of those people that glide around on one of those electric wheelchairs or look like one of those that can't get out of bed weighing 800 or more lbs. This is not the case for me. These are the same people that feel Monique(from the Parkers) and Star Jones, (to name a few) are too fat. In what world? These women are thick, true, but they are not huge. They're all healthy women. I'm beginning to think people have been brainwashed by their own mentality or guilt because they are too thin. Yes I said it, TOO THIN.
If you feel the word healthy implies that you tumble over when the wind blows or that you're "petite", I hate to break it to you, but that's a nice way of saying you're anorexic! Don't believe me? Let's analyze the word healthy. What is present there? HEALTH! Health means the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit. How are you SOUND in body if you don't weigh enough? How are you sound in mind if you think for one second there's nothing wrong with being that skinny? How are you SOUND in spirit, when you're constantly hating on someone who weighs more than you or who fills his clothes out?? Healthy means WITH HEALTH people! It is not an excuse to be malnourished!!!
Guys like skinny girls you say? Nobody wants a pig you say? Well I have meat on my bones and only a dog wants a bone. Think about it, if you were to receive a piece of chicken (or any type of meat)with no meat on it, would you eat it? H#LL NAW!! You'd call KFC up and complain. Same thing here. Having meat on your bones means you have insulation for your body.
It also bugs me that people have the nerve to say "You're getting too fat" to my face, but these are the same people that see their other friends LOSING weight, but whisper behind their backs "Is she anorexic?" or "She's getting small". Why not do her like you did me and put her on blast? Why is it you can walk up to me and say "You're too fat" but tell her to her face "You look nice" you can't say "You're too skinny heifer"?
During the 2 months I worked at Greyhound a friend of mine said "Lindsay, you looked nice in your cat suit today. I think if you had been a skinny girl people wouldn't have made so many comments about it. That's why when I see an anorexic chick wearing something that doesn't look right (sometimes in the same size [as someone like you] I tell them it aint cute. I've saved them some embarrassment at the club; I've done my civil duty."
That's the EXACT attitude I'm going to have from now on. I'm getting too fat huh? Well, have you looked in the mirror lately? You could afford to be bigger. And I do mean afford! You're not spending money on food, just buy some and quit living off of bread and water. While I'm on the subject of food, why it is skinny people always holler "I eat this and I eat that?" You don't eat $#it!!! And you seriously need to! Then skinny people that talk about big people have the nerve to say "I'm naturally thin". So? Some people are naturally big!
On a final note, the last thing that bugs me about skinny people is the acceptance of their malnourishment. This should NEVER be something you accept. It's like saying "Hey death, come in and let's kick it!" Let's take America's Next Top Model winner "Eva". I loved her. I commend her for not letting her weight be the reason she didn't pursue modeling. There are skinny models out there and she could clean up in this industry. Did anyone see her on "Celebrity Weight gain"(not a real show)? It was probably hard to spot her since she blended in with the twigs in the background. It upset me because she said "I don't feel I have to conform to some standard of beauty..." Hello! It's not about conforming to some standard of beauty. It's about helping to improve your shape and look and feel better. Conforming to a standard of beauty would be Halle Berry standing in the sun to look like Grace Jones, Tweet, and Roshumba, not gaining weight to improve yourself. Wake up people!! We're the obese capital of the world and our country has the BEST medicines. We're healthy!
And on that note, I'm OUT!!!!!!!
*********Now, I'm ready for the comments that tell me I'm wrong about what I said about skinny people. Feel free to mention my misconception on skinny people. The comment button is alive!**************
